Having been homeschooled, Victoria was initially nervous about returning to education. After searching online, she discovered Riseholme and found a welcoming environment that helped her feel at ease from the very beginning.
“The interview just sort of made me feel very welcome and reassured about the college.”
Her course covers a range of subjects, including animal care, equine, horticulture, English and maths. After resitting her English GCSE, Victoria is working towards completing her maths GCSE this year, with individual tutoring playing an important role in her progress.
“The tutoring was wonderful. Honestly, I believe that I wouldn't have been able to get so far ahead if I hadn't had tutoring.”
The support she has received has transformed her confidence. “Last year, I was worried because I thought I would not even be able to pass or get anywhere close. But after tutoring with Sharon last year, I feel a lot more confident in my ability to learn.” Sharon is one of our excellent Learning and Skills advisors.
Beyond her studies, Victoria has made new friends, developed valuable life skills and begun thinking about her future. She is currently considering careers in teaching or psychology, inspired by her interest in helping others learn and grow.
