Darcy has always had a clear ambition for her future and sees her Equine Management course at Riseholme as the first step towards a career in veterinary care with horses
Darcy first discovered Riseholme through our website and came along to an open day, where she got the chance to see the facilities and find out more about studying with us. The open day confirmed that Riseholme was the college for her.
“I knew I was going to Riseholme.”
Darcy particularly enjoys the balance between practical and theory-based learning on our Equine Management course, with regular time spent on the yard alongside classroom study.
“I love it, I think I got the best course ever. We are on the yard on Tuesday and Thursday and then Wednesday is our Theory day, which I really like.”
For Darcy, the experience at Riseholme goes beyond studying. Living in our college accommodation has given her the opportunity to meet new people, make friends and become part of a welcoming community.
“All of the people who live in the accommodation are so lovely. Everyone is so nice.”
There is also plenty to get involved with outside of college work, with residential activities, trips and opportunities to develop everyday life skills.
“Accommodation activities are really fun, we go on trips, like we went to Skegness recently. We also do weekly shopping trips, and we have cooking lessons.”
If she had to describe Riseholme in just three words, Darcy would choose:
“Friendly, Agricultural and fun.”
