Alexander Coggon

Alexander is a Riseholme alumnus who studied at the college for six years, starting with Level 3 Agriculture in 2014, followed by a Foundation Degree in Agriculture (2016–2019) and BSc (Hons) (2019–2020).

Today, Alexander combines his agricultural background with his passion for photography and videography, travelling across America, Australia and New Zealand to showcase opportunities for young farmers. His work has recently earned him a nomination for Content Creator of the Year.

Alexander chose Riseholme because he wanted to study alongside like-minded people working in agriculture. Looking back, he describes his time at Riseholme as “some of the best years of my life.”

“Life as a student back then was pretty fun, all of us on the course got on really well, and the majority of us are still in very regular contact with each other.”

The friendships, confidence and industry connections he gained have continued to benefit Alexander, with many former classmates now working across different areas of agriculture.

“My time at Riseholme has benefitted me no end. It built a lot of confidence up for me and gave me a good core group of friends that work in different areas of industry.”

A standout memory was reaching the Farm Planner of the Year final in 2020, supported by Riseholme lecturers Sharon Kirby and Jonathan Dearlove.

Today, Alexander uses his content to inspire young farmers to explore opportunities beyond the UK.

“My ultimate goal is to make it be known the opportunities available to Young Farmers through travel.”

From Riseholme student to award-nominated content creator, Alexander continues to combine his passion for agriculture with a drive to inspire the next generation.
