Career Focused Courses

At college level students study a broad range of Sport and Public Services related skills and gain practical experience through a range of activities that are relevant to real working environments. Whether you want to start your career as a personal trainer a sports therapist or in the public and uniformed services, Riseholme can help you develop the essential skills to start your journey.

Industry Partnerships

Riseholme College offers a unique opportunity for school leavers to train under the umbrella of Lincoln City FC and continue their education doing something they love. The youth team studies the BTEC Level 3 in Sport alongside their training, helping students secure an academic qualification whilst they aspire to play professionally. The squad makes use of Riseholme’s state-of-the-art sports facilities which include, a fully equipped strength and conditioning suite, a multi-use sports hall and FIFA-standard all-weather 3G pitch.

The Gainsborough Trinity Foundation has also teamed up with Riseholme to deliver full time study programmes in a wide range of sport and coaching opportunities. Courses are suitable for anyone who is interested in a career in sport and includes units such as practical team sports, anatomy and physiology, professional development exercise for specific groups and leadership, equality and diversity.

Our students come from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds, with 22% being of non-white British ethnicity. In the last three years we have also seen an increase of over 10% in female students, illustrating that sport really is for everyone.

Extended partnership wuth Lincolbn City

The partnership between Lincoln City Academy and Riseholme College has grown to offer new progression opportunities for aspiring young footballers – with a higher-level HNC study agreement meaning players can gain qualifications that could open up a wealth of career opportunities on and off the field. Under the new agreement, students will study the HNC Sport and Exercise Science programme which covers key areas such as, sport and exercise psychology, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, training, fitness and testing and much more, whilst training with the Imp’s scholars.

The close partnership with Lincoln City will also give students access to a range of non-playing, yet industry related, work experience. Industry placements at the club could focus on many areas, including; performance analysis, coaching, media engagement and management as well as recruitment and medical support.

Ready for Work – Work Experience Programme

As with most college courses, students who study Sport at Riseholme will complete work experience placements as part of their course. But we offer more! A limited number of Riseholme Sport students will have the opportunity to complete a ‘ready for work’, enhanced work experience programme, one day a week alongside their studies. Riseholme, alongside our college in Bishop Burton, has partnership links with more than 300 sport and fitness organisations locally, regionally, nationally and even worldwide, giving students the best possible opportunities within the sector.

State-of-the-art Facilities

Riseholme College’s dedicated Sports and Health Science Centre is home to a range of sports facilities that benefit both the students and the local community. The Centre is complete with a state-of-art gym which is open for membership to students and the public, multi-use sports hall, flood-lit all-weather pitch and training rooms with projectors and smartboards.
