"I chose this college because I have a strong interest in sport. This course excites me as I get to play football regularly, which is what I enjoy doing most, but I also get to focus on a specific subject that I have the most interest in. So far, we have studied Anatomy and Physiology and fitness training, as well as Psychology.

During a typical week at college, we train up to three times a week. Wednesday is a match day which can involve away-day trips on the Riseholme minibus. We have set periods throughout the week where we study and complete exams or assignments.

The teachers are always ready to help during lessons if we ever need support. The coaches are approachable if you have any football-related concerns, but they also like to have a joke on the pitch which creates a friendly atmosphere whilst training.

In the few months I have been here, we have had plenty of opportunities to upskill ourselves, such as gaining a qualification in teaching golf to primary students. The greatest opportunity I have had is being a shadow scholar and being able to do what I enjoy the most. I think this course will help me in the future as it opens a pathway to jobs related to sport such as a physiotherapist or a personal trainer."
