Ed Hopper

Ed is currently studying a T Level in Agriculture, Land Management, and Production (Crop and Plant Production) at Riseholme College. His passion for farming stems from close family connections who work within the industry.

He chose this course because he was particularly interested in the units it offers and found the college convenient to travel to. Throughout his studies, Ed has gained valuable knowledge about crop production, seed cycles, and plant growth differences. He also emphasized the importance of health and safety, which is a key focus across all units to ensure students are well-versed in essential procedures.

One of the highlights of Ed’s experience has been attending industry-related trips that directly connect to his course. Recently, he visited LAMMA, Potato Farm Day, and a Sugar Beet Factory, gaining first-hand insight into different aspects of the agricultural sector. However, his favourite part of the course is applying what he has learned on Riseholme Farm, where he enjoys the hands-on experience of practical farming.

Once fully qualified, Ed aspires to expand his skills in tractor driving and plant harvesting, with ambitions to work in agriculture across the world.
