Student Blog - Emily - BTEC Level 3 in Public Services
Why did I choose this course?
Before starting college, I was unsure of what I wanted to do in the future but the public services course offered a lot of routes for me to take at the end of the 2-year course.
Why did I choose Riseholme College?
I chose to study at Riseholme because it had a wide range of options for me to pick from. Overall, it was a nice quiet college, which I liked about it.
How is college different from school?
College is a lot more laid back and you are taught in a different way to at school, for me, I find it easier as you can work through your own work at your own pace to meet any deadlines.
Where do I hope this course will lead?
At the end of my time at Riseholme, I hope to study adult nursing at Lincoln University or do a degree apprenticeship in nursing within the NHS.
What facilities do I enjoy the most?
The canteen offers a different selection of food every 4 weeks which is good as it isn’t always the same. I also enjoy the gym which you get to use a lot in the public service course.
Overall, the public service course is good to pick if you are still a little unsure of what you would like to do in the future. There are many options like the police force, army, paramedics, fire and rescue and many more. There is always something to do and it offers a lot of physical sports and outdoor activities which you wouldn’t get to do on another course.
