Through our industry-experienced staff, excellent employer links and fully trained careers advisors, students can be sure they are developing the skills and experience they need to succeed in their career.
Riseholme College prides itself on offering all of our student’s free, impartial advice and guidance about their next steps. This service has seen the college be awarded the Matrix Standard in Advice and Guidance.
A Careers Advice page is available on our student portal, iLearn, providing online information about careers, employability, apprenticeships, UCAS and more. Students can access this area to research their options and book an appointment with our Careers Coordinator.
Riseholme College has recently been selected as the only vocational college across the Humber to join the Careers and Enterprise Company’s newly appointed Careers Hub.
The Careers Hub brings together schools and colleges to work together with employers, careers professionals, universities and training providers, to improve careers education.
The aim of the Hub is to enable schools, colleges and training providers to achieve the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, by sharing good practice and meeting the targets of the government's careers strategy.
We are also pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Humber LEP Gold Standard for Careers Information, Advice and Guidance. The Standard is designed to fit the requirements of the LEP in terms of the provision of robust and impartial careers services and was used to assess the quality of the provision provided by the college. This award is now known as the Quality in Careers Standard and is nationally recognised.
Our Careers Programme has been developed with the support of different agencies to ensure our students are "Career Ready" when they complete their studies. If you have any queries or would like to contribute to the development of the Careers Programme, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Careers Coordinator and designated Careers Leader at the college is Gemma Daddy. Gemma has achieved a Level 6 Diploma in Careers Guidance and Development and is currently studying a Level 7 PG Cert in Career Leadership with the University of Huddersfield.
Gemma is in college during term time, so book an appointment if you are unsure of your next steps or need impartial information, advice and guidance about apprenticeships, courses, training, or to discuss your thoughts around your career. Appointments can be made online by accessing the Careers page on iLearn or by contacting Gemma. Parents are more than welcome to contact Gemma with any questions they may have.
The college’s positive destination figures (where students go when they leave college, e.g. employment, higher education, apprenticeships etc.) remain well above the national average.
This is in part due to the vocational nature of our courses and the expertise of our teaching staff. This excellent work within the curriculum is also underpinned by our Careers Programme, which is designed to enhance your understanding of employability and develop new and existing skills to give you the edge when competing for jobs, university places, etc.
Whilst enrolled as a college student, you will also work towards completing an Employability Passport, which has been externally validated by The Humber Learning Consortium and gained their Kite Mark. The Passport supports students to evidence the development and attainment of the 7 key Employability Skills. Achievement of the Passport is built into the group Personal Professional Development (PPD) tutorial sessions and lesson plans.
We work closely with local companies to bring you relevant part-time roles that you can do alongside your studies, as well as graduate vacancies. Any vacancies available will appear below.
