Pearson Gape Farming Partnership is a 470Ha family farm in Caxton, Cambridgeshire. They employ regenerative farming techniques to grow quality crops and provide environmental and community services to the local area. They are currently looking to employ a Regenerative Farming Operative

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a passion for farming and the environment
  • Is keen on regenerative agriculture
  • Has a safety-conscious work ethic
  • Takes pride in their work
  • Enjoys solving problems and brining ideas to the table
  • Is capable of working from their own initiative and sometimes alone, as well as alongside the farm manager and as part of a wider team

Key responsibilities:

Machinery operation

  • Drilling of cash, catch and cover crops with Horsch Avatar, with application of compost extracts and other biologicals
  • Spreading of fertiliser, some targeted cultivations, harvest support and relief spraying and combining

Environmental works

  • Hedge planting
  • Establishment of various stewardship options: winter bird food, tussocky grass margins, pollen and nectar mixes
  • Agroforstry establishment and maintenance

Trials and farm development

  • Assistance with the creation of on-farm compost and biologicals
  • Help with various trials the farm is undertaking: BOFIN slug and soil projects, H3, on-farm trialing of different practices
  • Support with various sampling: soil, SoilMentor regen health indicators, sap analysis
