T Level Technical Qualification in Horticulture (subject to approval)
Riseholme College is excited to offer the T Level Technical Qualification in Horticulture, providing an excellent opportunity for 16β18-year-olds looking to start a career in the Agriculture, Land Management, and Production industry.Β
This Level 3 qualification equips learners with essential occupational skills and in-depth industry knowledge, covering key topics such as health and safety, business, sustainability, and working in agriculture, environmental, and animal care.Β
Students can specialize in one of several occupational areas, including crop production, floristry, land-based engineering, livestock production, ornamental and environmental horticulture and landscaping, or tree and woodland management and maintenance.Β
The course is designed with input from local employers, who contribute through demonstrations, industry talks, and work placements where possible, ensuring learners gain valuable real-world experience.
Upon completion, learners will have the opportunity to progress onto higher education courses and further training, opening doors to a successful career in the industry.
RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development
Our new course,Β RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development is designed to provide learners with the essential plant knowledge needed for a wide range of roles within the horticulture industry. This qualification equips learners with a strong understanding of plant science and underpins key horticultural practices, supporting career development for those already working in the sector or looking to make a career change.
Throughout the course, learners will explore topics such as plant growth and development, plant health, biodiversity and sustainability, while also developing valuable transferable skills including communication, problem solving, and the planning and implementation of management schedules. On completion, learners can progress into employment within the horticulture industry or continue their learning through further education at Level 3 and into higher education.
This is a 1-year course, starting in January 2026 (pending course approval).Β

Robert is completing a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Horticulture, specialising in grounds maintenance, through Riseholme College while working with Platform Property Care. Coming from a background in sport and personal training, he wanted a more active, outdoor role.
