STUDENT BLOG BY OWEN, BTEC LEVEL 1 VOCATIONAL STUDIES IN SPORT AND PUBLIC SERVICES

Why did you choose this course?

As a swimmer in my spare time, I felt that sport was the most appropriate course for me to do. I have a good range of knowledge of sport already and wanted to progress, develop and move forward within that career pathway. It has made me feel more confident and allowed me to meet new people and progress.

Why did you choose this college?

It is close to my home which means I do not have too far to travel. My brother previously attended the college and he enjoyed his time within the department which supported my choice. The college has a range of courses that I thought would benefit me and has a friendly atmosphere. All of the staff are really friendly and helpful and make the lessons fun and interactive which I really enjoy.

How is college different from school?

College makes me feel more mature and relaxed. Everyone is here to do something different and have different roles within the college, not everyone is the same.

What is your favourite part of the course?

I really enjoy and find interesting the lessons and the lesson content specifically around the theory. I am able to use my knowledge of sport, and experiences I have gained within the lessons and put them into the tasks and assignments that are set by the helpful and friendly tutors.

Where do you hope this course will lead?

I am looking towards my future options, but I am hoping to progress onto the BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Sport and develop my knowledge and experiences even further.

What facilities do you like the most and why?

I like spending my free time in the meadows with my friends as it is a nice place to socialise. I also like spending time outside on the benches when the weather is nice so I can appreciate the lovely campus.

What is your favourite thing about being on campus?

To represent the college and to be part of the Bishop Burton community.

Any positive things you would like to add?

Overall, the college has allowed me to meet a range of new people and take part in a wide range of different experiences. Also, the development of skills and knowledge both personally and academically that I would not have got anywhere else!
