During her time at university, Savannah had the opportunity to work with a PhD student investigating behavioural differences in rehabilitated hedgehogs in comparison to wild hedgehogs. This opportunity allowed her to learn more about hedgehog behaviour, as well as developing her skills in using tracking equipment and field work. To support her studies further Savannah worked in customer service as well as undertaking volunteer work in a zoo, this is what led her to be a teacher as she wanted to educate and inspire others with the same interests as her.
"I love the practical elements of teaching as I feel the students learn so much more with hands on experience. I love my science modules and being able to engage the students in lab practicals to support them with their studies."
"The Animal Team at Riseholme are all so passionate about teaching and genuinely love what they do. This is apparent to our students throughout their time with us. We offer such a range of units on our courses that covers a wide range of interests for our students, from health and disease to exotic animal husbandry to animal behaviour and training. This allows our students develop their knowledge in something that they are interested in which could inspire them when choosing their future career."
