One year full-time, normally in college one day a week.
Students can progress to study the RHS Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Health and Applied Propagation.

Four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent, preferably including English and Maths, or a Level 1 qualification in a related subject. A satisfactory reference is also needed.

Brett had a number of jobs after completing his GCSEs, including agency and factory work, but decided he wanted to improve his career prospects by studying horticulture at Riseholme College.
Q: What do you like about Riseholme College?
A: The staff and pupils are all very friendly and the teachers provide excellent support. They are always prepared to help and provide further information on topics.
Q: What is the best thing about your course?
A: The course is enabling me to improve my practical gardening skills and theoretical knowledge. The combination of work-based assessments and days at College are very conducive to learning.
Q: What are your hopes for the future?
A: I hope to improve my horticultural knowledge and become a better and more confident gardener. In the future I hope to be a head gardener at a stately home.
