BTEC Level 3 in Animal Management (Behaviour and Welfare)
Summer had always wanted to work with animals, but didn’t know in what capacity.
Now, having spent time studying Animal Management at Riseholme College, she is determined to one day run her own zoo to help educate others about exotic wildlife.
Having secured a work experience placement at an animal sanctuary with tigers and jaguars, she is confident her time at College will provide her with the perfect platform she needs to launch her dream career.
“I wanted to come here because there is a wider variety of animals to work with than elsewhere. I’ve grown up with a lot of different types of animals as pets and I’ve always been interested in working with them, I just didn’t know exactly how.” Summer said.
“Now that I’ve been at Riseholme I know that I would like to work with exotic animals. One of my biggest aims is to become a zookeeper – it would be amazing to own my own zoo and teach people things about animals they have never been in contact with before.
“I’ve learned so much here. There is always something to do and it is never the same. Every single week there is something different that needs doing. I came here not knowing anyone here and now I know everyone – people are so friendly.”
