The Course

This course will provide you with a broad range of knowledge and understanding about a wide range of animals, whilst preparing you for progression by supporting your development of employability skills or progression onto your year two programme in Animal Management, depending on your career goals.

You will have the exciting opportunity to work with a range of species in our highly prized and industry relevant animal unit, including; cockroaches and crickets, to meerkats and other exotics species and more. Developing animal handling and husbandry skills and building knowledge about each species you work with in their specialist environments, with a critical look at behaviour, habitat and welfare.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade 4 or equivalent, including Science, English and Maths, or a relevant BTEC Level 2 / First Diploma or equivalent*. A satisfactory academic reference is also needed.

*If you have four GCSE’ at grade 4 but not Science you will be offered Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care and will then move to one of our other Level 3 courses following successful completion.

If you have Science at grade 4 but Maths and English are at grade 3 or below, but you have other grade 4 GCSEs, we may offer you the Level 3 with English and Maths.

Now, having spent time studying Animal Management at Riseholme College, she is determined to one day run her own zoo to help educate others about exotic wildlife.
