Riseholme College offers students the chance to learn and develop new skills on a modern farm with mixed livestock and crop enterprises. You will study the essential skills to start your career in agriculture, including crops and livestock production and machinery operation, and there is a strong focus on work experience both on the college farm and externally.

One year full-time, normally in college three days a week and one day in work placement.
Students who want to further their studies can progress to the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Agriculture.
Work as an arable and livestock farm assistant, animal control officer, agricultural equipment officer, farm caretaker, groundskeeper, landscape officer, pesticide handler and many more.
Four GCSEs at grade 3 or equivalent, including English and Maths, or a Level 1 qualification in a related subject. A satisfactory reference is also needed.

James is from a farming family and wants to follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather with a career in agriculture. His hobbies include shooting and football.

A: I really enjoy the practical activities and farm work. I have also met a lot of really great friends on my course.

A: The supportive and friendly tutors. They are always there for you and will help in any way they can.
Q: What are your hopes for the future?
A: I would like to progress onto the Level Three Diploma programme at Riseholme College. Ultimately, I would like to become a farm manager or a partner in the family farm.
