Introduction

Sainsbury’s was founded in 1869 and today operates over 1,200 supermarkets and convenience stores, employing around 161,000 people.

Sainsbury’s has grown to become one of the UKs best-known retailers, holding 16.7% of the grocery market share.

As part of the Pedigree Hereford breeding programme based at Bishop Burton College, the herd provides home-reared British beef for the College’s commercial partnership with Dunbia, which supplies British beef to retailers including ASDA, Sainsbury’s and the Co-operative.
